Project Overview

For more than 20 years, Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) has worked to advance opportunities for learning beyond the school day, helping Hoosier youth grow into healthy and thriving adults. What began as a local-level effort among school districts and afterschool providers has become a leading statewide intermediary organization. IAN engaged Mapt Solutions to help navigate a turning point in its work to hone its strategic focus and ensure strong internal alignment and capacity to act.   

Our Approach

IAN initially came to Mapt for support developing an internal capacity-building plan that would allow it to expand its reach and impact. Mapt saw a deeper opportunity for IAN, however, and ultimately worked with the organization to enhance its strategic focus and create a plan to deepen the impact it has in the out-of-school (OST) care space. This effort included conducting a landscape scan and assessment of the organization’s progress against strategic goals and identifying new post-pandemic opportunities as well as aligning IAN’s capacity across people, systems and resources to ensure the organization can act on the opportunities in front of it. Mapt engaged IAN’s staff and board to refresh the strategic plan, helped the organization evaluate their systems and made recommendations for a new design to support their current and future-looking needs. Mapt also helped them realign roles and even participated in interviews for the newly defined positions created in the strategic planning process.
